Jodhpur — The Blue City

Jodhpur's old town is instantly recognizable from above: a dense cluster of indigo-blue houses spreading out beneath Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest and best-preserved forts in India. The blue color traditionally marked Brahmin households and helped keep interiors cool.

Jaisalmer — The Golden City

Jaisalmer sits at the edge of the Thar Desert. Jaisalmer Fort is a living fort — around 3,000 people still live within its walls. Just outside the city, the Sam Sand Dunes are the standard base for camel safaris and overnight desert camping.
